Track No. 2 from Dreams in Space and Time by DeScianni
Lay Me Down (by DeScianni)
This song ventures deep into how the terrible Opioid, Fentanyl, and mixed drug/alcohol crises can consume someone very quickly. Good people with great futures could take a left turn and get caught up in addiction, or be the victim of laced doses and die any night(wake up dead).
The poor girl is asking her friend out of love to watch over her, and she tells a story how someone can save themselves and not "Crash and Burn", partly by turning her prayers (rosary) to love beads, but to be there for her love, friends and family that love her.
She can overcome for the right reasons, but first she has to get through the night.....
Lyrics- Lay Me Down
I knew a girl, who partied too much
And as a friend, I thought I could help
And she said to me, if I go too far tonight
Could you do this, one thing for me
Lay me down, gently on the bed, turn me over on my side she said
Then I won’t, I won’t wake up dead
Lay me down, Lay me down
When she was young and restless
She took a left turn, somewhere
But she never did crash and burn
Just turned her rosary into love beads
Lay me down gently on the bed, turn me over on my side she said
Then I won’t, I won’t wake up dead
Lay me down, Lay me down
Lay me down gently on the bed, turn me over on my side she said
Then I won’t, I won’t wake up dead
Lay me down, lay me down
Lay me down, Lay me down
